Donna has served as a director of gift planning for leading healthcare organizations and senior director and director of charitable gifts for world-leading financial institutions for more than 25 years.  Her capacity to lead and execute produced significant growth in gift planning programs for large healthcare foundations located in Northern California.  In addition, Donna held director positions at large financial institutions such as Merrill Lynch Trust, Wells Fargo Charitable Management, and Mellon Financial, and successfully expanded their charitable services to the nonprofit sector.

  • Led all gift planning activities for the Foundation and introduced and launched a blended gifts’ model, which significantly increased the organization’s annual production. Integrated gift planning into other departments’ value offerings to facilitate cross-referrals amongst colleagues.  Constructed a Legacy Advisors Outreach Program that regularly engaged 500 professional advisors across multiple disciplines and co-developed influential advisor consortium serving Foundation ambassadors.

Director of Gift Planning, Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Healthcare, Palo Alto, California.

  • Led gift planning program for the Foundation and for Stanford University School of Medicine Child Health Programs. Launched quarterly planned giving training to educate more than 40 major gift officers that included blended gifts.  Redesigned gift planning events, grew Legacy Society’s membership by 38 percent, and established advisor program for 600+ Peninsula advisors across all disciplines.

Vice President/Senior Director, Charitable Gifts, Mellon Financial Services, San Francisco, California

  • Headed Western Region’s outreach, new account acquisition, and guided planned giving for large philanthropic institutions. Cultivated relationships with prestigious colleges and universities, such as Stanford University, as well as charitable gift services and trust divisions of national nonprofit institutions.

 

Board, American Council on Gift Annuities and Northern California Planned Giving Council, San Francisco.  Memberships include the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, American Council on Gift Annuities, Marin Estate Planning Council, UCONN: Neag School of Education, Dean’s Advisory Board, and Women’s Philanthropy Forum.

Donna and her husband are new residents of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
